50 years of computer science in Dresden
With Darmstadt, Karlsruhe, Munich and Saarbrücken, Dresden is one of the locations where the first university computer science study courses were established in Germany in 1969. This date marks the 50th anniversary of 2019, because at the TU Dresden the information processing section was founded on 1 January 1969. On September 1 of the same year, the first year began his studies. Informatics education is the foundation for a successful future - digitizing the opportunity for regional growth. With five decades of research and teaching experience, the TU Dresden is shaping IT specialists for the growing demand for skilled workers in Saxony.
Five universities with 50 years of computer science education, 400 software and IT companies in Dresden and 41,000 TU members celebrated together. The Germany-wide festival took place at the universities in Dresden, Darmstadt, Karlsruhe, Munich and Saarbrücken. The festival program of the TU Dresden provided a project exhibition from 12 noon to 6 pm along with many other program notes. Current results from research and teaching in the field of engineering were presented. Among them were Matthias Lehmann and Bastian Wollschlaeger, who presented the project AUTERAS.
